Daddy’s Little Girl May 15, 2008

dsc06635.JPG My dad decided to stay home from work for another week. Besides my chubby cheeks, we seem to have a lot in common already. We got to try out my Boppy activity gym and took a few walks with mommy. Of course he couldn’t stop laughing at me when I got the hiccups yesterday but I guess it’s one way to keep his attention.

Mommy keeps saying that I’m full of hot air just like my dad, whatever that means. I’m glad he was around to be with me and mommy when we got home from the hospital. We’ve all had so much fun together.

One Week Old May 10, 2008

Filed under: My Thoughts — Maylia @ 9:38 am

Okay so I’m not over the hill just yet, but I am now one entire week old. By all accounts, I am developing well. I can lift my head (which is strange for a newborn I hear) and I can kung-fu grip my daddy’s finger. I eat all of the time my mommy says, but hey I’m hungry…what do you expect?

Mommy and daddy show me plenty of attention and love.  They say that there is no way to spoil me the first few weeks because I wasn’t even supposed to be born until May 14th.  Whatever works for them I guess. Little do they know that I will be spoiled my entire life (I have them right where I want them).

I still haven’t gotten the hang of sleeping in my bassinet all night. I’d much rather sleep on daddy’s chest. Speaking of sleep, I’ve learned that my car seat is a neat place to catch some Z’s.  Yesterday, I stayed in the car seat after a long ride in the car. I mean when we got back to the house, I asked the parents not to bother me for while so I could get some much needed rest before eating again.

Talk to you soon!

Not Your MTV Crib May 8, 2008

Today I took a two hour nap in my own crib. I was sleeping with mommy and daddy the first few days and I cried every time they tried to put me to sleep in the bassinet next to their bed. So to sleep in my own lady bug room for more than 5 minutes was a big step. Maybe I’ll sleep a little longer tonight so the “rents” can get some rest too.

I like to sleep during the day and stay up at night. So when mommy and daddy’s friend Marisa came to visit, she didn’t even get to see me with my eyes open. It just so happens she was in town from Minnesota the week of my birth.

I did have my eyes open when I met the Jessops yesterday. They were nice enough to bring food to the house. They live in Utah now and are here in Denver visiting.

Jackpot May 7, 2008

So the sounds I heard in mommy’s belly of a dog barking finally came to life. My “BIG brother”- also known as a one and a half year old Jack Russell Terrier named Jackpot and I met last night. He sometimes makes lots of noise (I guess we will be competing at times on who can make the most). But for the most part he likes to watch me in my swing, try to lick my toes and sniff my hair and I don’t think he likes it too much when I cry…but what big brother would? Click here to check out the pictures from our first encounter.

I finally made it! May 6, 2008

The truth is that I am actually here just a tad bit early. That’s okay though, my mommy and daddy were happy to see me. Here I am posing for the camera just a few days after Dr. Okuda delivered me at Rose Medical.
